Lizzie
As the coronavirus crisis kept many people home, pet adoptions soared. A recent survey suggests that 1 in 5 American households acquired a pet during the COVID lockdown. Unfortunately, as restrictions have lifted and people have begun to return to work, some of those adopted pets have found themselves back at the shelter as they no longer fit into their owners’ lifestyles. Among those returned was Lizzie.
Lizzie arrived at TLC in January of 2021 and was adopted shortly thereafter. A few days later, she was returned by a family unwilling to give her time to adjust. A few weeks later, she was adopted again, seemingly having found her happily ever after. But in June, a nervous and confused Lizzie came back to TLC a second time. Luckily, Lizzie’s patient foster was willing to give her plenty of time to adjust and helped her work through the challenges that come with being adopted and then returned twice. As time went on, Lizzie became more comfortable and confident and was ready to show everyone the sweet, cuddly pup that we all knew her to be.
In early November, Lizzie moved to a new foster home to continue the already amazing progress she’d made; soon, she was ready to strut her stuff at a Meet and Greet Event. On November 6, Lizzie joined her fosters at the Lot 6 Beer Garden, where she met the people who would become her furever family. Thanks to the time and dedication of her foster families, Lizzie was able to show her new family the amazing dog that she is. Lizzie is proof that there is a perfect home for every dog; sometimes, it just takes a little bit of extra patience to find it.
