Lulu Belle

When a dog is shut down, it takes lots of patience and love to help them learn that the world isn’t a scary place. A confident dog as a partner can help too.

Lulu Belle came to TLC from Mississippi, shut down and afraid of the world. Her puppies had all been adopted and she was heartworm positive.

The Cline family were able to foster her and offer the patience and time she would need. “My heart ached for her,” Melinda Cline said. “I would just talk to her all day long.”

For weeks, Lulu Belle would only respond to Melinda. But slowly, this sweet girl started to come out of her shell. Resident dog Chewie helped, guiding her through the more difficult and confusing times.

Lulu Belle began social milestones – asking for affection, playing with toys, and enjoying zoomies in the yard. This meant it was time to treat her heartworm, which would require a long period of restricted activity, but she took it like a champ.

Melanie said “I’ve never heard a dog snore so loud! (we) always wondered how a dog that size could make that much noise!”

Once healthy, she was ready to find her furever humans. After 134 days in a foster home, Lulu Belle was adopted. Her new family is confident their love and patience will show her that the world can be a fun and safe place.

Happy Life Lulu Belle!
