Happy Cinco de Mayo & International Chihuahua Day!
Tito was brought to TLC’s attention in May of 2020, this poor little guy was very scared when he was brought to the shelter and was having what the vet described as “Fear Induced” seizures. When he went into foster care in South Carolina, he was very afraid, but he started to come around and realize that humans are actually good and loved getting attention. One of his favorite things was getting scratched behind the ears. TLC wanted to help Tito in any way that we could, so we decided to bring him up to PA. His foster, was very hesitant, but in the end, knew we’d find him the perfect home. Tito rode on the lap of a transport volunteer all the way from SC to PA. When he arrived he was very tired and went straight to foster. Tito’s foster family immediately fell in love, but realized quickly there would be some challenges ahead. Tito started having seizures later a few hours after he arrived at his foster home. This was very scary for his foster momma’s but they saw it through. As time went on, Tito started to feel more comfortable and his true personality started to shine through, he perked up and showed how fun, playful and silly he could be!
Here is what his foster momma’s had to say about life with Tito:
Over the next several weeks that we were lucky enough to foster him, he delighted in playing hide and seek in the yard, chasing any and all toys, tussling with his foster brother Deuce and cuddling in our laps. It was summer and he found all the sunny afternoon spots on the deck. Tito is such a cute and loveable pal and we love following his continuous adventures with his fabulous forever family….
As much as Tito’s foster family wanted to keep him, they knew the time wasn’t right and had met a family that was very interested in adopting him (from the vet where he was seen for his seizures). It was a perfect match and Tito was adopted.
“Tito is doing great! He is such an adorable funny little guy, always making us giggle! His brother, Colonel, a Boston terrier, thinks I brought Tito home for him, they’re always playing and palling around. Bella his sister, a beagle mix, is his protector and the referee. He had a recent visit with the neurologist and his Phenobarbital levels are good, we may need to increase his one medication due to his recent seizures. I have Tito on a special diet - Keto diet - and supplements. We had to make some changes with his fat intake so I’m hoping it will help and will not have to increase medication cause it may cause him to be lethargic. Other than that he is doing great! I love spoiling him!”
Tito is doing so well today. He does still have seizures, but he is going longer periods of time without having them. He is so loved.
