Happy Underdog Day!

Road Trip Destination: Railroad Bar & Grill

The third Friday in December marks Underdog Day.  Chandler fits the mold of an underdog for a lot of reasons, but he had a whole lot of people rooting for him then and now!

Chandler’s start in life was not an easy one.  He was the smallest of Tenielle’s 12 puppies, barely weighing 4 ounces. Unfortunately with 11 others to care for, mom’s survival mode kicked in and she rejected Chandler.

Chandler’s foster mom knew he just needed a chance. She spent countless hours teaching him to eat from a syringe, making sure he was still breathing, caring for an eye infection at 3 days old, and overcoming a concussion at 2 weeks old.   She often worried that if she slept too long, he would stop breathing.

Despite being told by the Vet, that he may not make it and if he did, he may have developmental concerns, she pushed on.

Chandler spent weeks in a blanket and a heater-lined laundry basket.  He learned how to eat mush and then moved on to hard kibble.  He even fought off an infection that made him lose a much needed 3 ounces of his weight.

Chandler was a fighter, and his foster mom knew it.  She helped him fight every single day of his life and in December of 2021, he surpassed the 1 year old mark, and a healthy and thriving 40 pounds.

Best of all, his foster mom knew how special he was and that he was already in his forever home with her!
