September 2024

Echo

Frisbee Champ 2024

Buzz finally found his furever home after 162 days! Buzz has a sweet disposition, a mild temperament, and is friendly towards everyone he meets. He is incredibly smart and food-motivated and the whole package of perfection. He loves to play with toys, bones, and other dogs, and especially loves to be with his “person.” For a cattle dog, he is not overly active; while he loves playtime, he is also perfectly happy to take a break and chill out for a while.

Like Mary Poppins, Buzz is “Practically Perfect in Every Way” – he just happens to be deaf. As a cattle dog, we at TLC require breed experience to ensure both the family & the dog are set up for success to handle herding behaviors. While Buzz is incredibly smart, being deaf means a different form of communication with Buzz.

Deaf Dog Awareness Week, observed annually during the last full week of September, focuses on education us about deaf dogs and busting myths. Some think deaf dogs can't be happy or trained, but that's not true! Pups like Buzz just need a bit of extra love and sign language commands. The week shows that compassion means understanding their needs and giving them a chance at a pawsome life. It's about breaking stereotypes and showing that a deaf dog can be your perfect, tail-wagging buddy!

While it may have taken Buzz 162 days to find his family, we are sure glad he found his perfect home with adopters who are perfect for him and his needs. They will be rewarded with a loyal and loving companion for life.

“Echo is great. He's stubborn and playful and full of energy. He loves to wrestle with his sister and brothers, and is the best at sneak attacks during play. He loves a good cuddle session on his terms, and can often be found sleeping on top of one of his siblings. He's a wonderful travel partner, loves hiking and going for walks in the woods, and will do anything (literally, ANYTHING) for his frisbee. He brings us clean laundry all the time, and drops whatever the article of clothing is in front of us or on our laps, and if we don’t have a big enough reaction he’ll bring us something else until we react appropriately. He loves being with his people, and enjoys napping in the most inconvenient places (like across a doorway or in your lap).” - Echo’s Forever Family
