Happy National Pet Month!
Featured Dogs: Lace, Lady Di, and Florentine
From overworked moms to living their absolute best life…
While many of our foster dogs are from southern rescues that are overcrowded and underfunded, some of the dogs in our care are discarded from commercial breeding facilities. That means that after near lifetimes of being forced to have litters, they are “no longer useful” to the facility.
We open our arms to these dogs, who have never known an ounce of affection. With lots of love and even more patience, our fosters work very hard to help these dogs learn what it means to enjoy life and not be a breeder.
Lace, Diane (now Dumpling), and Florentine (now Moxie) are perfect examples of this type of situation. They came to us as shells of the dogs they are today (spoiler alert!). They were un-wanting of physical touch, scared of any human interaction, and did not know how to be a dog.
We’re happy to report that after months of patience, love, training, and some guidance from resident dogs, Dumpling and Moxie found their forever homes. We’re even happier to report that after finding their forever homes, they are their truest, happiest, selves!
“Moxie is adapting well to life as a regular dog. She greets each new day full of joy and excitement for new adventures. And she’s really great at hunting down the smallest of cookie crumbs.” - Moxie’s Furever Family
We urge people to consider the effects of commercial breeding. Not only on the overall population of dogs in need, but the mental, emotional, and physical toll that commercial breeding can do to each dog involved. We are so grateful for the ability to change the lives of these dogs
