Featured Dogs: The Chicken Cutlet Puppies
March celebrates National Puppy Day and how better to spend it than celebrating with a litter of eleven?
The Chicken Cutlet pups are one of the largest litters that TLC has had in our care. Each one with its own distinct personality, their mother, Meadow, had her paws full with this litter.
Meadow had spent her life being used by a backyard breeder and lived her life outside. After countless litters, she was surrendered to our rescue. We had hoped the Chicken Cutlets would wait to arrive until after Meadow made her freedom ride, but with eleven children, nothing is predictable. These spontaneous pups were born the night she was surrendered. Despite their early appearance, the whole family made their way north a week later.
With eleven puppies plus Mom Meadow to care for, our team had their hands full. We rallied together though and are happy to say that each of the Cutlets found their furever families, as did Meadow.
“The only thing better than saving one dog, is saving an entire family. Fostering a litter has its own challenges, but helping mama raise her puppies is the greatest reward of all. When you have a litter as charismatic, sweet and hilarious as the Chicken Cutlets, you spend more time laughing while they’re here and shedding happy tears when it’s time to finally say goodbye.” - Chicken Cutlet’s foster parents
Our shelter partners are constantly overwhelmed with pregnant mothers and unwanted litters of puppies. We are fortunate to have amazing foster families in our organization that open their arms to these pups.
If you’ve ever considered fostering a pregnant mom, or a young litter like the Cutlet pups, there is no better time - and if you ask our current fosters, there is no better feeling, either!
