Happy Holidays from all of us at TLC - and our pal, Turkey!
Featured Dog: Turkey
Tails of a wild goose Turkey chase..
Turkey came to TLC in November of 2021, shut down, afraid of the world, and wary of men. We may not have known much about his background, but what we did know was that we would do everything we could to help him.
When he was adopted in December, our team had high hopes that he was on his way to a happy life. However, he decided to go on an adventure and escaped from his adopter the same day they brought him home.
It took about a week, but he was eventually caught and brought back into a foster home. Still afraid, he was “so shut down that I secretly feared he would live under my daughter’s bedside table forever,” his foster said.
Over the next few months and with lots of patience, love, and care, Turkey began to gain confidence. He started attending adoption events but preferred to play the part of the wallflower.
After all his shyness, Turkey surprised us all at one of our Meet and Greets by plopping himself on the ground between a couple that had stopped by. He rested his head on one of their laps, as if to say, “You’re my people now.”
They adopted him that afternoon and the rest is history.
“Since adopting Turkey in March of 2022, he has transformed from a scared, shy pup, into a playful, confident dog. Turkey loves going on adventures with his mom, dad, and best friend & puppy brother, Zuko!” - Turkey’s Furever Family
Thank you to everyone who helped us find and catch this wild Turkey. Thank you to his foster family for never giving up hope. Thank you to his adopters who felt the pull from Turkey’s soul and welcomed him with open arms. Forever.
We would not be able to have completed this Happy Tail without the love, support, and dedication from our Volunteers. If you’re interested in joining our volunteer team, please visit our website below.
