No eyes? No problem!

Featured Dog: Jina

We love an underdog story - and this pup truly fits the bill!

Many of our dogs are surrendered to us by breeders who no longer have a need for them. Like Jina, some come to us with a very chaotic story, but don’t fret. This tale has a happy ending!

She was rescued in February 2022, from a backyard breeder after spending her puppyhood in a cage. Unfortunately, sweet Jina was attacked by some of the other dogs, causing damage to both of her eyes. After being seen by one of our vets, it was decided to remove both of Jina's eyes so that she would no longer be in pain. She was now permanently blind.

Her foster worked hard to regain Jina’s trust in the world. She hand-fed her for days before she learned to find the bowl on her own. She was anxious and stressed by the strange dogs and humans she met. She required a quiet, calm, and trusting home that she could claim all to herself.

After 119 days of hard work by both Jina and her foster family, she was adopted. Now she enjoys the quiet life and will spend the rest of her days as a happy, quirky dog with her forever family.

“Jina is doing great! She loves all the foster pups that stay with us. She zooms around the yard like a dog with eyes. We loved her the first day of fostering. They say the eyes are windows to our soul... But with Jina, we saw her sweet soul, even without eyes… Looking at her you could see she was saying ‘I'm home.’”- Jina’s furever family

Jina’s special needs place her on an elite list of our “Extra TLC” pups. These pups require a little extra - you guessed it - TLC. Whether they are visually impaired, receiving heartworm treatment, or have other physical or emotional needs, we are honored that they trust us to help them along their journey.
