We don’t know about you but between Halloween & the end of Daylight savings time it felt like we had an awful lot to get done despite the hour we gained back. As crazy & rushed as things felt, it was a great week and we’re already starting to feel those early bits of excitement knowing the holidays are just around the corner.
Of course, how could we not just start our ride on the excitement bandwagon after getting this great shot of Abner with his new mom & dad – right?! Or, perhaps the extra fun of seeing that little nugget Andy (now Beans) get adopted & then getting a call from his mom a few days later – not because there were any issues but to ask if they could adopt Farro too! Yeah, it’s one of those crazyhappyfun weeks that reminds us how much we love what we do.
All in all, 12 TLC pups did the happy dance joining new families this week. In addition to Abner, Andy (Beans) & Farro (new name TBD), Bandit, Emily (now Skylar), Hali, Jonah (now Harrison), Layla, Mikey, Monkey, Princess (still debating Waffles & Autumn as possible new names) & Slye moved onto to fabulous furever homes.
We also received a lot of great updates from alumni:
Hope had her first vet visit with her new parents! Everything went well! She’s doing great!
Abbie is doing great and adjusting well to her furever home! I took her to the vet last Tuesday and she got an A+ bill of health (including more shots–plus another round due in 3 weeks–her pet insurance was confirmed). Her tummy was a bit swollen when I adopted her the Sunday before last, but it went down to normal puppy size within 48 hours. Her puppy personality is blossoming–she loves to zip and run, play (especially jumping and climbing on me or her dad), get treats, and general mischief, and I love her all the more for it. And talk about smart, she was using a litter box (yes, trained) within 12 hours. She’s been to work with me in DC on Capitol Hill, and everyone wants to know when she’s coming back. Life has been sweeter with her in just 1 week–she’s a blessing! Thanks again! More updates to come!
She is doing great. Such a friendly dog and lots of energy. We go for numerous walks every day. I’m getting some much needed exercise. I changed her name to Scout. I’ll send pic’s once I get them downloaded. Thank you for all the work you do!
Ziva FKA Zya (mom to our recent Z litter)
Zya now Ziva is doing great. She’s got her name recognition down and is doing really well with training. She was tentative for the first 2 weeks but her personality is really coming out.
She’s learning to sit when we stop walking, to lay down, to go to her spot (her pillow in the living room) and to stay off the furniture.
She loves to eat things off the ground and we think this made her sick over the weekend so, we’ll be asking Gail (the trainer from What a Good Dog) for help with that.
She really is an affection hound but, seems to like her alone time in her crate which we leave open for her to use as she pleases.
C.J. FKA Dawanna
All is well with Dawana, but we have changed her name to C.J.! We absolutely adore her and she has settled in quite well. She has gained 4 lbs since we have her which is great. She has come out of her shell quite nicely and has already taken over the house. Thank you so much for letting us adopt her. She has filled the house and we are thrilled
Penny FKA Liza
Everything has been great so far! She’s settling in nicely here. We changed her name to Penny. I have attached some pictures.
Sasha FKA Pam
Pam is now Sasha and she’s doing really well with us. She gets along great with our 2 year old Lab and they keep each other (and us) busy
Daneel aka Dani
Danneel is adjusting well! She is super smart and is learning so quickly! We are absolutely in love with her. And I think the feeling is mutual:) Thank you for the reminders. We have kept her name, but call her dani for short:) pictures to follow! Thank you so much!!!
Remington (Remi) FKA Danny
Thank you for following up on Remington (previously Danny)! He is settling in very well! He has had alot of visitors this week! We are currently working on potty training and he has had less accidents as the week has gone on. Today we are having our forst meeting with a trainer that I used to work with. She owns her own business called Fur and Feathers Pet Training and she is great with all types of animals! Remi loves playing with all his toys and going on walks! I will definitely send pictures and updates!
We tried other names including Rhett, but Charlie Brown just seemed to fit his personality and he did seem to answer to it. So we kept it. He is a clown sometimes! Loves little kids but sadly only gets to see them on his walks which he loves. He seems to like his Zorro costume for Halloween-at least the cape part- even though it doesn’t look like it in this pic He makes us laugh which we needed and we didn’t even know it. I think we make him as happy too. He went to several Phoenixville High School tennis matches with his purple bandana and was a big hit with the ladies.
Charlie has turned into somewhat of a watch dog especially when it comes to deer, squirrels, and chipmunks. I will try and remember to send you updates. He is a joy. We couldn’t be more pleased.
Lexi aka Alexandria
Alexandra is doing well!! We call her Lexi. We brought her to the vet last Friday and she was healthy, just had dry, scaly skin and had a couple of baby teeth. We are so happy to have her!!
Topo FKA Clyde
It’s hard to believe that we’ve had Topo (fka Clyde) for 6 months now! In some ways it feels like we just picked him up, and on the other hand I hardly remember what life was like without him. He is still adjusting to city life, but has overcome his fear of buses and trucks (we’re still working on trains). Topo is a great traveler, and has accompanied us to the Poconos, NYC, and Vermont. He loves being out in the wilderness where he can really run around. I’m attaching a picture of Topo on the stoop of our apartment, and one from his first time fishing. Thank you for helping us add such vibrancy to our lives!
Duncan FKA Howell
“Things are going well with Duncan (FKA Howell) and I! I changed his name the day I adopted him and he has had no problem learning his new name! I have taken him to my vet and he received a clean bill of health! Although he still can be a bit skittish around strangers, he has warmed up nicely to my friends and family. He had an initial fear of steps when I first brought him home, but with practice he has mastered the skills of running up and down steps with ease now! I’m still having a bit of a hard time housebreaking him, however tonight was a great evening for him and he finally peed and pooped outside! This was the first time he has done this, despite many long walks. He loves going for walks and even joined in a long walk with some neighborhood dogs this afternoon. I couldn’t love him more if I tried and he is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I want to thank you for allowing me to adopt him! Within the next few weeks, I will be taking him to get some formal training, though we have been working on “sit” and “lay down” and he is progressing well!
Again, thank you so much for rescuing him so that I may adopt him! I will keep you updated on his future accomplishments.”
Sammi FKA Teal
Sammi is doing great, we love her very much. She is a very friendly happy puppy, and we enjoy playing with her and taking her for walks. She is still a cuddle bug, and we laugh that she still tries to fit on our laps. She has learned all of the commands we have taught her. (too many to list) She knows our daily routine, and follows it wonderfully. She is a very fast runner, and loves running like the wind in the back yard.
Thanks again for helping us find our Sammi.
Jack Biscuit FKA Biscotti
Jack at 10 months. How we love our Jack Biscuit. Thanks again for our living friend!
We also received a nice update & picture from Mario’s mom telling us how happy he is, and Chloe FKA Rebecca’s mom shared a picture of her with us as well.
