It may not have been the nicest week weatherwise but the sunny week-end coupled with a bunch of adoptions was a great way to wrap it up.
He used to be a shy guy, but someone now calls Jay “my guy.” It may take the timid pups a little longer to come around but when they do, and then find a furever family willing to to earn their trust, well that’s a very happy tail to tell.
Also whistling an extra happy version of Take Me Home are: Bain, Bara, Bay, Cecil, Iathan, India, Isadora (now Izzy), Rebecca, Reina, Steve, Stewart & Tai.
As many of you know, a few weeks ago, the Mini Paws reviewed the dreaded “put to sleep list” and decided that Venus would be the dog they would pull from the shelter (don’t worry, TLC managed to save the remaining dogs, all of whom will be treated for heartworm before we introduce them to you).
Well Venus made her way up north last night and finally got a chance to meet her benefactors and shower them with love for saving her. The kids will be documenting the project themselves and, rumor has it, some of them & Miss Venus may be making a television appearance later this week so stay tuned!
We also received a nice update about Stella FKA Aaliyah
We found out she didn’t know her name so we did change her name to Stella. She pretty much knows her name now along with sit! We are working on stay and come commands now. She had her first puppy class last week following her vet appt. The vet said her mange is further along than initially thought and he thinks she is more like a year old and not a puppy anymore as all her adult teeth are in. She takes her new medicine like a champ thank goodness. She is so easygoing and gentle. She loves everyone and everything. People, children, dogs and even the next door neighbors cat. She has a best friend already. His name is Kuma and he is a Samoyed. They have the best time playing together. We have been having the best time spoiling and loving her!. She loves her crate with her bed and tons of toys. She is very mischievous and crafty. Housebreaking has been a little challenge but I think the worst is over. We were having a battle of wills over whether the upstairs hallway was the appropriate spot or outdoors. I am happy to say no accidents for almost a week now. We have to keep her downstairs for a little while longer until we are sure she totally gets it, but then she will have full reign over the whole house. Stella just gets more and awesome with each passing day. The trainer at puppy class really wants me to pursue making her a therapy dog by September in time for the school visits! It’s very exciting. She met most of my family yesterday and everyone completely fell in love with her. She was an angel with everyone.
