Despite the dreary weather (and much needed rain), it was a busy & fun week for us. Yesterday, we spent some quality time at the Petsmart in Downingtown as part of Petsmart Charities National Adoption Weekend & today we got our Bark on at the always enjoyable Malvern Harvest Festival. As fun as these events were, we get the most enjoyment out of adoptions.
That goofball, and this week’s Dog Of The Week, Gabriel wiggled his way into the hearts of new parents. Gabe isn’t the only one who started a grand new chapter of their life’s story this week. Eli, Gabby, Gail, Garth, Nika & Nikita also found their furever families this week.
We also received some nice updates to share as well
Evie aka Evangeline
Evie is doing well! Her formal royal name is Duchess Evangeline of Woodlawn but we call her Evie 🙂
I had our vet appointment today! All is good there! I also have pet insurance that starts October 1. So good there. I do have plans to get some dog training (as much for me as for her!) in the coming weeks. But what we are doing with the bell training and treats when she goes to the bathroom outside is going well so far.
Missy FKA Oreo
Yesterday was 6 months since I met and brought home Missy (fka Oreo). She has been a delight to have around. She is full of energy!
I’ve been taking her to West Goshen Park every morning and most evenings to get some exercise and playtime and occasionally visit with some other dogs. She is still timid around people unless they are attached to a dog on a leash but very friendly with all dogs that she has met. When she is off leash in my sisters’ fenced in yard she runs and plays with her canine cousins.
She is horrible at getting her nails cut…..she flails around and bites anything or anyone near. The vet and tech had to muzzle her. 9#’s of terror for a few minutes.
She’s my girl and a sweetie.
Grace FKA Grace Anne
I wanted to give you an update on Grace (Grace Ann). We call her Gracie and we have loved her since the day we adopted her. She is super sweet, loves other dogs, is great with kids and is a wonderful buddy. We just put up a fence in our backyard and we can’t wait to just let her run out back. Until we got the fence put up, we’ve been taking her to our local dog park where she could play for hours. We will still bring her there quite often for the socialization aspect.
We are doing great – Ginger has settled in well and everyone else is adjusting nicely. I am afraid to jinx us but going better than we could have imagined.
We were prepared for some food issues with her reported grazing and perhaps guarding her toys but we have not seen any of that. We feed her in her crate and she is finished when everyone else is. As for her toys we often see her dropping toys in front of Trina as she does with Mark and I if playing fetch. Trina is not interested but is sweet watching her try to engage Trina. The two of them are playing well, sometimes it gets rough but tails are still wagging and Ginger seems to respect when Trina lets her know she has had enough. Same goes for the cats, they watch her and when done they hiss and she walks away.
We did learn she hates getting wet so did not enjoy trying the pool and bath time was challenging. She does enjoy sunning herself poolside though, both she and Trina make a run for the chaise lounges when pool gates open.
I attached pics of Ginger and Trina asleep next to each other in the family room at the end of our first day together. As well as them together at the pool and in their crates. Trina’s crate door is never closed but she tends to hang out there if Ginger is crated
Thank you for everything you do and helping Ginger find her way to us!
Rose FKA Vanessa
Rose has come such a long way since we first got her. She’s always wanting to be with Mari. Thank you for bringing Rose into our lives! Her and Mari are going to be BFF
Thank you so much for rescuing Jayme! She is such a wonderful addition to our family. We all love her very much. I am going to try to attach some pictures. We did not change her name from Jayme, our daughter liked it and thought it was a perfect name for her.
We kept his name. Colby is adjusting very well. Adopting a dog was one of the best decisions in our lives.
Jazz FKA Destiny & Kona FKA Denise
Here are some updated pictures of Jazz ( fka Destiny) and Kona (fka Denise). Jazz has the purple collar and Kona has the blue collar. “The Girls” have been a great addition to our family. They know their basic commands and are improving on walking on a leash. They still get very excited when we turn the corner to head home. Jazz love to chase her ball and frisbee and Kona loves to chase Jazz. They have very similar mannerisms but we can tell the difference in their personalities. Thanks for saving our girls!
Whiskey FKA Jojo
Whiskey (formerly known as Jojo) LOVES his big sister Lily, and Lily LOVES him outside, but thinks he is a pain in the butt inside
Anna FKA Analea
Little miss Anna graduated from intermediate training!
Here are some more pictures of the alumni who touched base with us this week
