We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful week-end for our Pints For Pups event on Saturday, and we were really happy to see that gorgeous weather continue today. The lovely week-end brought some very glad tidings for our Saving Southern Souls Dog, Maxwell. Maxwell’s story of being an emaciated senior dog surrendered to a shelter after his owner died, really touched the hearts of our Mini Paws junior volunteers who decided he’d be their special dog this year. Maxwell was fostered by one of the Mini Paw kids who gave a bittersweet farewell as the gentle giant moved into his furever home today.
We had a few pups that decided they were already at home with their foster families, so they made it official. Bindi, now Donna, and Ferret were 2 of those pups but one other foster failure necessitated making an early announcement when “puppy Max,” our poster boy for orthopedic surgery, found out his 1st birthday present was a new name tag to tell everyone he was staying in the family. Yep, he celebrated his birthday by combining it as a gotcha day (followed by physical therapy)
Also adopted this week were: Benson, Gerry, Gunner, Jackie, Kelvin, Petunia, Scooby & Yale.
We also have some updates to share too
Ruger FKA Ruben
“It’s been one month since we adopted Ruger (aka Ruben). He has been such an amazing addition to our family. Ruger has learned lots of commands including come, sit, stay, and down. But the best is when we say bedtime Ruger trots to his crate to be tucked in. Ruger has made best friends with our best friends yellow lab, and they play so well together. Ruger also loves going to the dog park and making lots of new friends. By far what we love the most is cuddle time with Ruger. He has brought so much joy and happiness to our lives, it’s truly a love that is indescribable.”
Frankie FKA Rory
“Please find an updated picture attached. Just to give an update, we changed her name from Rory to Frankie. We went to the vet Monday night and she’s doing well; already up to 19 lbs. Otherwise she has been a great addition to our family and we love having her around.”
“Thank you to TLC for giving us Buddy. Yes we decided to keep the same name, it totally suits him. Buddy is settling in quote well. He is getting better at being in his crate without getting mad. He does show some anxiety with people being away from him, and is already getting a little nippy with the kids so will need to get training started soon. He is definitely all puppy but also a vey sweet little boy.
We love him.”
[Editor’s note: we’ve encouraged Buddy’s mom to take advantage of our training support]
“Faye is doing great. She seems to be getting along well with our cat, although i don’t think the cat is as excited to have her as the rest of the family. We did decide to keep her name. I do have a vet appt tomorrow evening.
I have also attached a pic of Faye after we got home on Sunday.”
Gidget FKA Freya
“She is doing well and liking her new environment! We have her vet appointment scheduled for this Thursday. And I think we will be renaming her Gidget. Attached you will find some photos. She is so loving and the best friend. Thank you for allowing us to take her!”
Tilly FKA Italy
“We renamed her Tilly!! She is doing so well! Thank you and we will definitely recommend you to others!”
Sasha FKA Lily
“We’re enjoying our new pup…..I liked the name Lily, but the rest of the family thought she could have a bit of a mysterious look to her at times so we changed her name to Sasha. She seems to be adjusting well and house training is going fine. Just one accident so far.
We have an appointment for her at the vet’s on Tuesday, the 29th. I plan on attending an obedience class with her in the next few months, either a puppy class or a regular one depending on the schedules.
Thank you for all the work you, the staff, and the volunteers do at TLC.”
Remmi FKA Genny
“I’ve decided to name her Remmi. Shes so sweet. We love her so much! She wants to play with my cat, but right now she is still adjusting to having another furry friend in here. My cat doesn’t hide which is good. She cries when we walk out of the room or when shes put in her cage at night. But I’m guessing it takes quite awhile. Shes always right by our side.”
Leia FKA Gwen
“Leia had her puppy check up with Dr. Perkins today. She’s up to 7.5 lbs and doing well. She’s great in her crate and learning to go outside with maybe one miss a day. She’s a happy little pup and loves meeting everyone in the neighborhood! She loves to play with Willow and sleep on her tail. She’s a wonderful addition to our family💕”
Lily FKA Sweet Louise
“I just wanted to say thank you to all of you at TLC, as well as foster
parents Gina and Kathleen for all that you do for dogs and for caring for
Louise. I just couldn’t be happier. She has such a warm heart. As I hang out
with her today and look at her sweet face, I just had to thank you again. “
