Raffles For Ruffs was an awesome event, all thanks to the businesses & people who donated items for us to auction & raffle off, the folks at Twenty9 and, of course, all the great people who came out to have a great time with us! Events like these are special to us because, not only do we need them as fundraisers, but they also give us an opportunity to spend some time hanging out and catching up with so many of our adoptive families too.
We haven’t finalized the numbers, but it looks like we raised over $6,000 – all thanks to you! People often ask us what the money from fundraisers like this is used for. Since about 60% of our operating budget goes towards veterinary care, that’s where the money usually goes. Over the past 12 months alone, we’ve had quite a few “medical” cases with 4 dogs needing treatment for Heartworm, 4 dogs needing orthopedic surgery (and post-op physical therapy), diabetic dogs, dogs with severe allergies, one dog needing emergency treatment after being hit by a car, a couple of litters of puppies needing emergency care, & one new mom with eclampsia. That’s in addition to costs to treat other ailments, spaying/neutering and routine vetting like vaccinations, deworming, testing & preventatives. We’re lucky that local vets will work with us to help make vetting more affordable but it still adds up, so we’re glad we can find fun ways to raise the funds we need to continue to save lives.
We’d like to thank all of the local companies that donated products and/or services to us to make this event such a huge success!
