As an independent insurance broker, I’ve seen breed restrictions across many different insurance carriers. As a dog lover and owner, I know the struggle. If you own an “ineligible breed,” you’ve probably had trouble finding a company to insure your home. Or, you’ve had to pay a higher premium to cover the cost of the risk associated with owning that breed. Or … you’ve lied.
Your options would seem to be either give up the dog, pay a significantly higher bill every month or risk taking on a $33,230 bill–the average dog claim cost in 2016–when your homeowners denies your dog bite claim because you lied about Fluffy on the policy. All of these options are stressful, and, frankly, the circumstances put you in a tight spot. Pit Bulls may have a bad reputation, but yours wears pajamas and tucks your kids into bed every night (complete with goodnight slobber kisses). Why are these companies out to get you?
It was a great day in Spring City as today was the ribbon cutting ceremony to open The Whitehall which provides affordable housing to our local veterans. We at TLC have been watching the progress of the construction and were very excited to be able to raise $11,000 for Fund for Veterans, a program of Mission First Housing Group through our Wags For Warriors campaign to provide rental subsidies for the veterans who will be living at Whitehall apartments.
We can’t thank the crew at Prestige Salon enough for creating the Cuts For a Cause fundraiser for us! It’s no wonder why they have such loyal clientele and have won Best of the Mainline honors over the years as the entire staff is warm, welcoming and a lot of fun. They’re also all huge animal lovers which is a big plus for us!
In addition to a lot of people supporting us and coming out to get a ‘do for our dogs, the pups had a great time playing with everyone who came to the salon as well. We also had nice visits from Josie FKA Joy, whose mom put this event together for us, and Asher FKA Vincent, whose mom is a regular client.
We’re truly blessed & filled with gratitude for all the support we received.
Raffles For Ruffs was an awesome event, all thanks to the businesses & people who donated items for us to auction & raffle off, the folks at Twenty9 and, of course, all the great people who came out to have a great time with us! Events like these are special to us because, not only do we need them as fundraisers, but they also give us an opportunity to spend some time hanging out and catching up with so many of our adoptive families too.
