Are your kids walking or riding their bikes to school? Do they play in the neighborhood and encounter dogs? With more than 4.7 million people being bitten by dogs each year, it’s important that your children know what to do when they encounter unfamiliar dogs. Give them this quiz to keep them safe.

  1. What should you do if a dog runs at you barking?
    1. Run and hide
    2. Yell for help
    3. Stand totally still and cover your face with your hands

    1. When it is tied up or eating

    1. Give it to the dog because dogs love treats
    2. Ask the owner first and then let the dog lick the treat out of your hand

  1. What is the best choice you can make if you are playing a game and your ball or Frisbee goes into another yard?
    1. Run and get it as fast as you can before anyone notices
    2. Send your older brother or sister to get it for you

    1. Pedal faster and yell at the dog
    2. Turn around and try and get the dog back to its house
